The last two days have been rough “er” on our Luke. He woke up yesterday to copious amounts of nausea. It improved throughout the day yesterday and he was able to keep some food down and walk 2 miles. Today has been no bueno. Any liquid or foods that went in, quickly came back up. He hasn’t been out of bed except to use the restroom. But, we know Luke. Forge ahead. No Formula 1 for us today! He was awakish enough to say hi to GG today and that is about it.
Luke continues his chemo regimen. He has concluded his Fludarabine and busulfan. Thank goodness. But, tomorrow he enters thiotepa. It is going to be another doozie. This is the chemo that is secreted through his sweat glands. He can’t have any sort of chapstick, lotion, bandage residue, regular sweat, clothing, or even his broviac dressing on him. He will have a sort of gauze top on to protect his broviac when he showers every 6 hours until Sunday at midnight. Doesn’t sound like very often initially, but it is. A lot of stuff to do, undo, and redo let alone the motivation to get out of bed and shower with chemicals while you feel like he does. FUCK CANCER! He showers with hydrogen peroxide. Otherwise, the secreted chemo will burn his skin severely. I have been yelling “PITS, BALLS, CRACK,” at my boys since they started bathing on their own. The next 2 days is some serious pits, balls, and crack. Boy mom. The following email I sent to Luke’s transplant doctor this evening.
Dr. Iwishiwasajayhawk,
Greetings from the 7th floor! #764 if you get lost on your way here on Monday. Please don’t. I just would like to remind you NO crazy bender this weekend. Please diligently wash your hands a minimum of 37 times a day. Sleep and exercise are of the utmost importance for you to continue to function at the highest level for my son. As a reminder, please wear bleach friendly clothing because I hear the mom in #764 is a stickler for bleach wipes and will bleach every thing in sight, including humans. Maybe tie dye will trend back into 2023. Let’s hope not. Does sniffing massive amounts of bleach hurt stem cells? See you for Funday Monday.
Please keep all hands, feet, arms and legs, inside the vehicle at all times,
Suz
P.S. Let’s roll! We are ready!
Today is day -3. We admitted last Sunday which is called day -8. Transplant day is day ZERO. So, when I refer to days, that’s how it translates for all you math wizards.
I started my injections yesterday. All good. Bring it on. Quadruple my dosage so I can produce MORE for my baby. I really feel that way. Most moms would but I know not all do. And that is ok. Well, not really ok. It’s like if you told me you didn’t like dogs. I’M SORRY, WE CAN’T BE FRIENDS. Anyways…
Buckets of BRING. IT. ON!

We are praying for you, Luke and Suz throughout this difficult week. God sees you and hears your cries. “Hear the voice of my pleas for mercy, when I cry to you for help, when I lift up my hands toward your most holy sanctuary. The Lord is my strength and my shield; in him my heart trusts, and I am helped; my heart exults, and with my song I give thanks to him. The Lord is the strength of his people; he is the saving refuge of his anointed.”- Psalm 28:2, 7-8 He is your Refuge and Comforter. 🙏🏻☝️🙏🏻
