Just finished Long rounds
Bronchoscopy canceled for today. The risk of procedure vs. reward of what they actually find isn’t worth it. They will keep it on back burner – meaning they’d have to intubate and put him on a ventilator and recovering his lungs could take longer and put him at higher risk of lung recovery VS. learning nothing about the type of infection it may be.
Treating it as a severe lung infection -continuing steroids – have said COVID but don’t want to commit to that specifically so don’t go down a rabbit hole but treat more broadly.
Starting PPN – (nutrition through IV) same as tpn just not thru a central line for nutrition Strongly encouraging him to try and eat more but mouth still painful so eating not sounding great.
We are very content with the decision to call this off. His team thinks he looks better today than he did yesterday. Let’s keep fucking going!
